Karting is the simplest form of motor racing, and is run with simple, four-wheel vehicles called karts or go-karts or gearbox/shifter karts. Their chassis are made of steel tube. There are no suspensions. They have an explosion engine.
This sports was originally born as a hobby, but karting has nowadays perceived as the stepping stone to the higher and more expensive ranks of motorsports. Many current and former Formula One pilots/racers of the last years (Michael Schumacer, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jarno Trulli, Jenson Button, just to mention a few) all grew up racing karts at an international level and they, once in a while, still run in this motor sports’ category.
It’s impressing to see that the 7 times Formula One champion Michael Schumacher took part in the final of the Kart World Championship class 100cc in the year 2001. That year the Italian Pilot Vitantonio Liuzzi won. Today he is a pilot of Formula One too.
